How we are going to build a sanctuary from scratch

Phase 1: COMPLETE
Create a business plan
While this is not a "business", a detailed plan on what we will need, how we will operate, costs of supplies, finding volunteers, etc. must all be calculated first in order to be able to move forward with the certainty that this sanctuary will be a total and wonderful success.

This CAD drawing is both to scale and in the location that our main barn will stand. It will be 20' x 40'

Phase 2: IN PROGRESS
Fundraising
This is where you come in! We could not do this without you! Once the budget is established, we will begin raising funds to:
  • Grade the pasture for proper drainage Complete
  • Build the barn pad above grade Complete
  • Mulch upper fenceline for optimum shade and browsing Complete
  • Dig drainage ditch and build berm for culvert runoff Complete
  • Remove 200 feet of existing fencing Complete
  • Clear path in woods to allow forest area to be part of goats' fenced in area Complete
  • Put up a 5 foot tall no climb fence around the goat pasture Complete
  • Pour concrete slab for main barn Complete
  • Fix dirt around slab to ensure barn stays dry Complete
  • Build the main barn In Progress
  • Build/buy the quarantine barn
  • Build/buy the food shed
  • Funds to supply the barns (hoof trimmers, buckets, hay baskets, first aid, stall mats, fire extinquishers, etc.)
  • Funds for our residents' initial vet visit
  • Funds to purchase 6 months worth of food- this will ensure that we always have extra money set aside for hay and supplements for our residents
  • Emergency vet fund- this will be untouched and will remain in the bank in case of an emergency

Phase 3:
Rescue!
This is the fun part- once we have the appropriate amount of funding, we will begin by rescuing goats from abuse, neglect and slaughter!

Phase 4:
Maintenance
This will be an ongoing effort to help with the costs of upkeep, food, vet visits, grooming, supplies and anything our beloved babies will need on a monthly basis. You will even have the opportunity to sponsor a resident! This is where joining our Patreon is incredibly helpful!
