About Us
Located just outside of Athens, Georgia, Vincent's Place Sanctuary is working to create a safe, forever home for goats and other farm animals rescued from neglect, abuse, and abandonment. The animals who live at Vincent's Place Sanctuary will live out their best lives in a place that is fueled by love and compassion. Our hope is to also be able to contribute back to the community by having our residents help provide support, love and joy to chronically ill, disabled individuals as well as those with learning difficulties, recovering from trauma or addiction by interacting with those who would benefit most from the love and joy that animal therapy has been proven to have on humans. This will be a win-win scenario, providing compassion and kindness to both the residents and the visitors.
We want to provide a safe and healing place for everyone who comes here.

Our Story:
As a chronically ill person, our founder has experienced firsthand how healing the power of love can be. She suffers from chronic pain and chronic illnesses. In January of 2019, she began to volunteer at a local farm animal rescue. Due to her limitations, her job was simple- to socialize and love on the residents. While she loved all the species who resided at this rescue, she found that her bonds with goats were the strongest. On days that there were moments when all she could do was lie on a blanket with the animals, she was amazed to find that when lying cuddled with the goats on a blanket- she could forget, if even for a blissful moment, her pain! In those moments, her body was quiet and she could simply be in the present moment with the animals. Her pain was drown out by the joy she felt; she was aware of the simple sounds of their breathing or chewing cud, she laughed at their antics, found herself smiling more and more. The longer she spent there with the animals, the better she felt- not just emotionally, but physically! She started calling one of the goats "my little miracle" because his affection had such an amazing impact on her healing and the quality of her life.
We want to share this healing power with others! Our hope and dream is that the rescues here will not only be advocates for the end of speciesism, but perhaps will even be able to work with nursing homes, hospice, schools for children with learning disabilities, rehabilitation centers, chronically ill and disabled people and share the power of animal therapy! As mentioned above, we are currently working on creating a program to offer free animal therapy to veterans and first responders. We cannot wait to share this wonderful, healing experience with others in need. Thank you so much for being a part of this amazing journey with us!

The adorable love goat in all videos and photographs currently on our site is Vincent Van Goat, our namesake. While Vincent does not live here with us, his love and our bond are the inspiration for the creation of Vincent's Place!
